I've said it before, and it's true: No matter where this life takes me, I want to die in Arizona.

I don't mean that to sound morbid in the least. Quite the opposite: It's the most affectionate way I can think of articulating my love for this grand state.

I was avoiding the traffic on my way back from Scottsdale a couple days ago, and caught this moonrise over one of my "gems." I have many gems in AZ, and one of them is the Usery Mountains. This is such a wide shot that you can't appreciate their scale, but the panorama is what I was feeling at that moment.

In case you're wondering, this is a typical evening in AZ. That's part of the charm. The 114º heat? That's part of the price.
